Request a Grant Writer

Award to a New York individual entrepreneur or volunteer at a nonprofit organization for creative approaches that meet and reduce community needs in Monroe or Ontario Counties. The award is accompanied by cash award that will be given to the individual’s organization.

Past awardees have included a domestic violence advocate, the co-founder and director of a neighborhood center, and the founder of a food bank.

Estimated Size of Grant:

The winner’s affiliated organization receives $100,000.

Term of Contract:

The Foundation does not make multi-year awards.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Only those organizations that are tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended, and are not classified as private foundations or Type III supporting organizations under Section 509 of the code, are eligible to receive funds through this award program.

Individuals may work as employees or volunteers for their organizations.

Individuals cannot nominate themselves. Nominations should fulfill at least two of the following criteria:
- The individual(s) should be residents of Monroe or Ontario Counties in New York,
- Their affiliated organizations must be based in either of those two counties, and
- The project for which the nomination is being made should have taken place in Monroe and/or Ontario Counties.

- Nominations Accepted: February 20, 2018
- Nominations Due: April 17, 2018
- The 2018 Prize will be awarded November 7, 2018 at the Dryden Theatre, George Eastman Museum. The winner is required to attend in person to receive his or her award.
