Grants to Alberta registered charities and public entities for community health and wellness activities. Priority is given to organizations in Banff, Lake Louise, Canmore, Morley, Exshaw, Kananaskis, and surrounding areas. Funding is intended for the following areas of focus: arts, culture, and creativity, environment and watershed protection, climate change adaption and mitigation, truth and reconciliation, public health, social services, educational services, access to mountain sports, outdoor recreation, and land-based education, and sustainable living-wage economy.

Term of Contract:

Successful applicants will receive funds by March 31, 2019 and will have 15 months to complete a project.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must be a “qualified donee” as defined under the Income Tax Act:

- A registered charity (including a registered national arts service organization);
- A registered Canadian amateur athletic association;
- A listed housing corporation resident in Canada constituted exclusively to provide low-cost housing for the aged;
- A listed Canadian municipality;
- A listed municipal or public body performing a function of government in Canada;
- A listed university outside Canada that is prescribed to be a university, the student body of which ordinarily includes students from Canada;
- A listed charitable organization outside Canada to which Her Majesty in right of Canada has made a gift; Her Majesty in right of Canada, a province, or a territory; and the United Nations and its agencies.

Priority will be given to those projects that serve the geographic region: Lake Louise, Banff, Canmore, Exshaw, Morley, Kananaskis, and surrounding areas.

Please note the following restrictions:

- Grants are not made towards operating costs or capital deficits
- Grants are not given to support annual fundraising campaigns, form letter requests or telephone campaigns
- Grants are not made to religious organizations for direct religious activities
- Grants for team support and sponsorship will not be considered

Pre-Application Information:

Timeline:
- Grant application deadline is midnight January 25, 2019
- Granting decisions are made in February 2019
- Successful applicants will receive funds by March 31, 2019 and have 15 months to complete a project
- Grant report due by June 30, 2020.
- Grant Reception May/June 2019 Date TBA
