Grants of up to $2,500 to North Carolina nonprofit organizations that provide arts and cultural programming in eligible locations. Funding is intended for general operating support. Priority is given to applications from organizations led by people of color. Eligible expenses include rent, utilities, salaries, telephone, office supplies, printing, postage, and equipment rental. Eligible organizations are located in and provided programming to Buncombe County.
Funding for the 2020-2021 grant cycle will focus on operating support for nonprofit arts organizations. Multicultural organizations will receive priority. To be considered an organization of color, the majority of their board and executive leadership must be people of color.
Operating expenses for qualified arts organizations not already receiving operating support from the N.C. Arts Council. These can include salaries, telephone, office supplies, printing, postage, rent, utilities, insurance, and equipment rental.
Priorities for Funding
This year’s Grassroots Arts subgrant program will provide operating support to qualified arts organizations not already receiving or eligible to receive support from the N.C. Arts Council. These include theaters, symphonies, galleries, art guilds, choral societies, dance companies, folk arts societies, writers’ groups, and arts festivals, among others.
