Grants to Deep River area, Ontario nonprofits, government units, and educational institutions for community services, arts and culture, environment, education, health, and social services. Funding is intended to serve the United Townships of Head, Clara, and Maria, Rapides Des Joachims (Swisha), Laurentian Hills (including Chalk River), Deep River, and Rolphton.

The Foundation funds projects that:
-Address opportunities
-Lead to self-sufficiency
-Promote cooperation and collaboration with other organizations
-Are efficient in the use of funding
-Are innovative

Deep River and District Community Foundation (DRDCF) is a locally run public foundation that builds and manages donated endowment funds to support activities in its own area.

The Foundation manages 22 funds which fall into the following six categories:
-Unrestricted Funds
-Donor-advised Funds
-Donor-Designated Funds
-Agency Funds
-Scholarship Bursary Funds
-Field-of-Interest Funds

Grants are made for one year only.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible to receive a grant, an organization must be recognized as a "Qualified Donee" by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). Qualified Donees include any registered charity, any level of government, and most educational institutions. Such organizations include Hospitals, Food Banks, Seniors organizations, Arts organizations, Educational groups, Environmental organizations, Community facilities (the CRA excludes sports clubs).

A Group applying for a grant will be expected to demonstrate fiscal responsibility and to have a committed volunteer executive committee.

Groups without charitable status may seek the sponsorship of a bonafide charity or may qualify to be included in a charitable program of the Foundation.

Not Funded:
-Normal operating costs
-Religious or political projects
-Sports sponsorships (specifically excluded by CRA)
-Deficit reduction or general fundraising

Pre-Application Information:

Applications are accepted at any time, but the deadline for the grant review committee is November 1st of each calendar year. The grant committee advises the Foundation’s Board of Directors who will notify its decision to applicants within three months of the deadline date.
