Request a Grant Writer

Grants ranging from $500 to $1,500 to Josephine County, Oregon nonprofits, groups, and individuals for a range of activities that promote arts, heritage, and humanities opportunities. Funding is intended for programs and initiatives that benefit the residents of the County.

Proposals must meet one or more of the priorities of the JCCC as listed: 

  • Increase the educational opportunities for arts, heritage and humanities for children.
  • Encourage more cultural celebrations.
  • Increase public art (public art is interpreted to mean sculpture and other objects in the public view).
  • Expand awareness of cultural opportunities.
  • Increase participation in the arts, heritage and humanities.

Note that JCCC does not intend to annually fund any one specific project.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Most grant awards are between $500 and $1,500.

Term of Contract:

The deadline for project completion is December 31, 2020.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

To apply for a grant, an individual or group must present a proposal to benefit the residents of Josephine County.

Not funded:
- General operating support
- Indirect costs not directly associated with implementation of the project. (Indirect costs are activities or services not directly related to the project such as operational expenses and salaries for staff not involved with the project. Direct costs are activities or services that support the specific project, e.g., salaries for project management, materials, marketing, etc.)
- Technology costs (new computers, Square hardware, etc.)
- Scholarship or tuition assistance for college, university or other formal degree course of study
- Projects that have been substantially completed by grant cycle start
- Requests to offset previous project expenses or deficits
- Events whose primary focus is to raise funds for a non-cultural cause
- Projects must be completed within the calendar year applying for (i.e., 2019)
- Projects where artists are not paid a living wage.

Pre-Application Information:

Time Frame:
-Grant cycle opens: October 1, 2019
-Formal Grant Requests: Must be received by October 15, 2019, by email
-Notification of accepted grant: December 2019
-Interim project report due: May 31, 2020
-Deadline for project completion: December 31, 2020

The application process may require a site visit or a personal interview.
