Grants of up to $10,000 to Illinois nonprofits and agencies for programs that improve the quality of life for residents of the Village of Milan. Funds are intended for programs that enhance youth development, to foster community development, to support cultural activities, and to invest in ways to relieve the suffering of the underprivileged.

Multi-year granting agreements may be considered.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Non-profit organizations with a 501(c)3 charitable tax status and qualified governmental agencies located in and serving the Village of Milan, Illinois are invited to apply. Organizations located outside of the Village of Milan may apply if their applications demonstrate specific benefits to the Village of Milan and its residents.

The trustees of the Brissman Foundation will make all determinations on whether the project serves residents as the Foundation intends.

Grants are not awarded in the following areas: annual fund raising, organizational endowment funds, deficit financing, grants to individuals, or for sectarian purposes.

The following areas or program types are not funded by application-based grant programs of the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend.

- Advertising or marketing campaigns
- Deficit funding or debt retirement
- Direct financial support to individuals
- Endowments (unless otherwise state by grant criteria)
- Fundraising activities or events
- Political or lobbying activities
- Projects that are not for a charitable purpose
- Projects or events that have already been completed
- Religious or sectarian activities that attempt to convert a person to a particular faith or perspective, or social service activities that require participation in such

Pre-Application Information:

The Brissman Foundation considers grant applications once per year, in the fall. Applications will open August 15, are due October 1, and decisions will be announced by late November.
