Grants to Ontario registered charitable organizations for community needs. Areas of giving include health and wellness, environment, youth and education, community, and First Nations and Métis. Grants are intended to build vibrant and strong communities in the Chatham-Kent region.

Funds support capital, operating, and special one-time costs for facilities, programs, and events.

The South Kent Wind Community Fund will support community resilience and prosperity through each of the following areas:
- Community: Initiatives that inspire local community spirit and engagement, including through community events and beautification projects.
- Environment: Initiatives that enhance community action on ecological preservation, restoration, land stewardship and education.
- Health and Wellness: Initiatives that are working proactively on fostering individual and community health and wellness.
- Youth and Education: Initiatives that are working to meet the needs of children and youth development through education, recreation and safety.
- First Nations and Métis: Initiatives benefiting First Nations and Métis whose traditional territory is within Chatham-Kent, with emphasis on causes that support cultural awareness, the environment, health and wellness, and youth and education.

There is no limit to the amount a grant seeker may request.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

An organization must be a registered charity, able to provide a Revenue Canada Agency registration number. The organization must also provide programs/services within the Municipality of Chatham-Kent. - Grants are not normally made to have the effect of providing sponsorship or contribution to fund raising events by other charitable organizations.
- Grants are not usually made to support the normal annual operating costs of organizations or core services that are otherwise directly or indirectly, publicly funded. Enhanced services that are not core funded or part of regular operating are eligible. Individual donor designated funds may be directed by the receiving organization, as deemed necessary.
- Grants are not made to establish or increase endowment funds and are not usually paid to other charitable foundations except as part of a capital specific campaign or as described in individual donor designated agreements.
- Grants are not made to organizations for the delivery of direct religious or political activity or to make improvements to facilities that are to be used primarily for the delivery of these activities.

Pre-Application Information:

There are two calls for applications, one in the spring with a deadline of March 31 and one in the fall with a deadline of September 30. Typically, a larger proportion of the funds available in any given year are granted in the spring.

Notifications by email for the fall cycle of grants are made in early December and notifications for the spring cycle of grants are made in late May and early June. The money will be paid within a few weeks of notification of the success of the grant application.
