Grants of up to $5,000 to North Carolina nonprofit organizations, governmental and educational institutions, and faith-based entities in eligible locations to improve the quality of life for local residents. Funding is intended for programs and projects in the focus areas of health, education (including early childhood school readiness), human services, arts and culture, and workforce development. Priority will be given to activities in the areas of education, health, and human services. Activities should benefit residents of the Lexington area, including Davidson and Davie Counties.
Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, congregations, governmental, and educational institutions.
If the organization conducting the project does not meet these criteria, you can apply for a grant under the fiscal sponsorship of an eligible organization.
Congregations, churches, and religious organizations which do not have 501(c)(3) public charity status may still qualify as eligible charities.
For-profit businesses are not eligible for funding.
The following areas do not fall within the Lexington Area Community Foundation’s current funding priorities:
- Capital campaign requests
- Debt retirement/deficit funding
- Duplication of existing programs
- Endowment funds
- Publication of books
- Projects typically the funding responsibility of the government
- Sponsorships or fundraisers
Please note, the following areas are ineligible for funding:
- Projects that promote specific political or religious views
- Political or lobbying activities
The application deadline is August 18, 2023, at midnight.
Requests for projects/programs should not duplicate existing services. Grants may be awarded to organizations funded in the past, but not typically to fund the same or similar project/program for more than three years.
