Grants to North Carolina nonprofit organizations, congregations, governmental agencies, and educational institutions for programs that address community needs in eligible regions. Priority will be given to projects and programs that support broad charitable purposes, provide professional development for public school teachers, and aid individuals with mental or physical disabilities due to visual or hearing impairments. Projects must benefit residents of Union County.

Term of Contract:

Grants are one year in duration.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Eligible organizations include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, congregations, governmental and educational institutions. Projects must serve the residents of Union County, NC. If the organization conducting the project is not an eligible organization, a grant can be applied for under the fiscal sponsorship of an eligible organization.

The following areas do not fall within Union County Community Foundation’s current funding priorities:
- Capital campaign requests
- Debt retirement/deficit funding
- Direct support of individuals (e.g. scholarships, hardship)
- Duplication of existing programs or services
- Endowment funds
- Travel and conferences
- Publication of books
- Projects that are typically the funding responsibility of federal, state or local government
- Projects that promote political or religious views
- Political or lobbying activities
- Sponsorships or fundraisers

Please note, the following areas are ineligible for funding:
- Projects that promote political or religious views
- Political or lobbying activities

Pre-Application Information:

The Union County Community Foundation's 2021 grant cycle dates are as follows -
- Begin Accepting Applications - August 2, 2021
- Deadline for applications - August 27, 2021
- Award and decline notifications - October 2021

Completed applications must be submitted by Friday, August 27, 2021 at 12:00 p.m (NOON). The application system closes promptly at noon and will not accept late submissions.
