Grants ranging from $10,000 to $25,000 to Massachusetts nonprofit organizations for programs that benefit older adults throughout the State, and projects that serve Athol area residents. Funding requests for new or special programs and capital projects are preferred. General operating support also will be considered.

Program Types:

- Arts, Culture, and Humanities

- Education: Funding will be provided for educational programs for all ages. To that end, the funding source supports academic access, enrichment, and remedial programming for children, youth, adults, and older adults that focuses on preparing individuals to achieve while in school and beyond.

- Environment

- Health: The Fund supports programming that improves access to primary care and health education initiatives for traditionally underserved individuals. In addition, the Fund manages several foundations engaged in medical research.

- Human Services: The Fund is committed to serving the community by supporting organizations meeting the basic needs of all individuals. Since the human service needs of communities are broad and evolving, the Fund supports a wide array of programming. The Fund's efforts are focused on—but not limited to—youth development, violence prevention, workforce development, life skills attainment, and food programs.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

In her will, Mrs. Boynton asked that "organizations which benefit poor, needy and deserving persons and particularly those of advanced years and gentility" be considered. She also expressed a desire that special consideration be given to charitable organizations serving the Town of Athol.

The application deadline for the John W. Boynton Fund is February 1. Applicants will be notified of decisions by June 30.
