Grants of $200 each to certified California educators of grades three through eight seeking funds to purchase fruits and vegetables for their students to taste and enjoy. These grants are intended provide an opportunity for California students to: taste fruits and vegetables — fresh, frozen, canned, or dried; learn about California specialty crops through engaging lessons; take home easy-to-prepare recipes featuring California specialty crops; and learn about healthy choices and nutrition.

If awarded, educators will receive a Specialty Crop Resource Packet that will include lessons, activities, and recipes that will assist in their teaching about California specialty crops.

Term of Contract:

If awarded, educators will receive funds in December 2014. Proposed projects must include at a minimum 6 taste tests between January 2015 and March 2015. The proposed grant project must be completed within the 2015 school year.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Specialty Crop Taste Test Grants are available to certified California third through eighth grade educators.
