Grants to Connecticut nonprofit organizations for activities that benefit underserved populations in eligible locations. Funding is intended to support programs in the focus areas of education, human services, and health care. Preference is given to organizations and programs that provide for the relief of human distress and suffering. Preference is also given to organizations serving the people of Middletown, but organizations serving the people of Middlesex County will also be considered.

Term of Contract:

Grants are 1 year in duration.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must be classified by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a 501(c)(3) public charity.

The Foundation does not consider grant requests from individuals and does not support organizations attempting to influence policy through direct lobbying or any political campaigns. Support is not provided for endowment campaigns. The Foundation typically does not provide support for start-up nonprofits or programs that are not yet established. However, possible opportunities can be discussed.

Pre-Application Information:

The deadline for application to the Thomas J. Atkins Memorial Trust Fund is October 1. Please submit online applications by 11:59 p.m. on the day of the foundation’s deadline date. If the deadline falls on a weekend or a federally recognized holiday, applications are due on the next business day by 11:59 p.m.

Applicants will be notified of grant decisions by letter within 2 to 3 months after the proposal deadline.
