Grants to Oklahoma cities, towns, and fire departments or districts to improve fire-fighting capacity. Funding is intended to benefit rural communities with populations of under 10,000. Eligible expenditures include fire-defense equipment purchases and fire station construction.

• Fire station construction - $30,000 grant limit
• Fire equipment purchase - $20,000 grant limit

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Eligible applicants are legal entities (cities, towns, fire departments, or districts) under a population level of 10,000.

Communities imposing strict boundary limits, which exclude rural residences logically part of the community, or using strict subscription response systems will not be eligible for funds under this program.

Pre-Application Information:

The 80/20 Grant applications are made usually available in July and are due by September 1st each year.

Application must be received by your Rural Fire Coordinator by the close of business, September 1, 2021.

OFS will notify all applicants around October 10, of whether their fire department will be awarded a grant.

The grants provide reimbursement of 80% of the total amount of the project. Grant recipients receive reimbursement only after the purchase or construction costs have been paid by the recipient. Up to three (3) partial payments may be requested during the grant period.
