Grants of $300 to Santa Barbara County, California public school teachers and staff who wish to learn a new instructional strategy. Selected teams will learn by observing and collaborating with a teacher who has developed a successful instructional strategy and is willing to share the strategy with a team of teacher peers.
Teams meet for a minimum of three, 1-hour sessions over a period of several months. Meetings are scheduled by the Team Coach. Team Coaches will work to coordinate a schedule of meetings that best suits their individual team’s needs. Team Members will have to travel to team meeting locations set by the Team Coach.
The selection committee is looking for teacher team members who are eager to learn a new instructional strategy and are willing to take the time and effort necessary to adapt the strategy to their own classrooms. Selection for these grants is highly competitive. Applicants are encouraged to write the application with enthusiasm and elaborate on how the strategy will improve their instructional practice.
