Grants to Alberta nonprofit organizations for infrastructure improvement and construction projects that benefit residents in eligible communities. Funding is intended for repairs, improvements, rehabilitation, and construction projects that provide a recognizable benefit to County of Grande Prairie No. 1.

The Major Capital Grant funds construction or rehabilitation to the physical infrastructure of facilities that serve County residents.

Eligible Projects:

Projects requiring structural improvements to a facility may be required to provide a report submitted by an engineer that confirms the condition of the facility. Parks and Recreation will determine is this is required and provide direction for the applicant. The County will cover costs associated with obtaining this report.

Preference will be given to projects that:

  • Benefit a large number of County residents
  • Provide evidence that there is a large volume of volunteerism, sweat-equity and/or fundraising
  • Demonstrate success in achieving project or program goals
  • Include a well-organized business plan that includes performance measures and long term operational viability of the facility

Preference will be given first to projects that address the safety and operational viability of existing facilities, then to projects that will expand existing facilities without significant operational and maintenance cost increases. New projects will be considered where need is strongly demonstrated.
