Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $20,000 to Washington and New York nonprofit organizations to promote equal rights and opportunities for children of color. Interested applicants from other USA states should contact the Funding Source. Funding is intended to increase success in school, improve public education, and reduce racial and socio-economic disparities in educational opportunities and outcomes.

The Foundation will focus its efforts on human or direct services in these areas together with education, training and resource development, and advocacy and policy work.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Fordham Street Foundation will award grants of up to $20,000.

Term of Contract:

Fordham Street Foundation will award single-year grants.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Fordham Street Foundation gives preference to programs located in the states of Washington and New York. If your program is not located in one of those states, please contact the Funding Source prior to submitting an application.

Applicants that have not previously been funded by Fordham Street Foundation may only apply for program grants.

Current and former grantees may elect to apply for either a program grant or a sustaining grant, but may not apply for both types of grant in the same year.

The Foundation does not fund individual scholarships or international grants.

Requests for endowment or capital support are unlikely to be funded.

Pre-Application Information:

Applications are due on or before January 15. Fordham Street Foundation awards grants once each year.

- Applications due to FSF: January 15th
- Initial acknowledgement: Upon receipt
- Requests for additional information: By February 1st
- FSF review complete: April 15th
- Board of Advisors Meeting: Mid-April to Mid-May
- Grantee notification: By May 30
