Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $5,000 to Ontario, Canada non-profit registered charities for projects and programs that address poverty, mental health, or charitable giving/voluntarism in Oakville. Applicants must submit an LOI by September 22 in order to be considered for a full application. Funds are awarded across a wide spectrum of sectors including but not limited to, arts and culture, education, health, wellness, physical activity, social services and public safety.

Grantmaking Areas:
1) Poverty - programs and initiatives that alleviate, prevent, and ultimately reduce poverty.
2) Mental Health - programs and initiatives that address and support needs for both the young and aging population.
3) Volunteer and Charitable Giving - programs and initiatives that support volunteer and donor capacity.

Only registered charities (qualified donees) and/or CORE Members with the Town of Oakville are eligible for grants from The Foundation.

Pre-Application Information:

The process for open-call granting is a two-staged process – when notified of the open-call granting please follow these steps:

Step 1 - Submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) to The Foundation.

Letters of Intent are due Monday, September 22 by 12:00 PM (noon).

If a full application is requested, you will be notified by October 9. Unfortunately, due to the volume of requests, the Foundation will only notify successful applications. However, feel free to contact grants@theocf.org to inquire on the status of a LOI.

Step 2 - Upon successful review, you will be contacted to submit a complete grant application to The Foundation. Once notified by The Foundation, applicants will have approximately 2-3 weeks to submit a full application.

PLUS submit 1 hard copy of your application to:

​NOTE: Hard copy must be submitted on or before the deadline date.

Your application must include:
-A fully completed application form
-Detailed budget for the project, indicating sources and amounts of all funds obtained to date or expected
-List of Board of Directors
-Most recent audited financial statements under the signature of the President. Also include all interim statements
-For new applications, please provide two letters of support from people, who are not clients, do not work in your organization, yet know its work (not required for United Way agencies)
-Signed copy of the Human Rights Code Summary (attached below)
