Grants ranging from $2,500 to $25,000 to Pennsylvania municipalities, agencies, pre-qualified land trusts, and nonprofits for projects that help to sustain the Susquehanna Riverlands Area (in Lancaster and York Counties). Contact the funding source prior to applying. The Letter of Intent deadline is February 2.

This program is a place-based strategy for the conservation, preservation, restoration, and recreational use of important natural lands and resources in the lower Susquehanna Valley. Funding will be provided for activities such as land conservation and preservation, stream and habitat restoration, passive recreation development, locally driven planning, and community economic revitalization efforts.

Examples of eligible activities include projects that feature natural resources, heritage and cultural resources, and recreation. Projects that have the greatest benefit to multiple assets and have strong partner collaboration will be ranked the highest.

The Lancaster County Conservancy will be awarding grants that range in amounts from $2,500 to $25,000.

Term of Contract:

Projects funded through this round of grants must be completed by December 31st, 2019.

Who can apply?

Municipalities, municipal agency, a pre-qualified land trust and authorized nonprofit organizations are all eligible applicants. Authorized organizations must be both tax-exempt under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code and registered with the PA Dept. of State, Bureau of Charitable Organizations.

Geographic Focus:

All projects must be within the outlined areas as shown on the map (attached below) in Lancaster and York Counties and have significant ties to the assets of the Susquehanna Riverlands, to the communities tied to these assets, and to the lands surrounding it.

Pre-Application Information:

The Letter of Intent deadline is February 2, 2018 by 5:00pm. Before applying please contact Fritz Schroeder (see Contact Information section below). The Review Committee will follow up by February 23, 2018.

Match Requirements:

A 1:1 match is required. Atleast 50% of the match must be in cash. Your cash match should be available when you list this match on your grant application. Your grant application must include a support letter from the partner organization(s) that notes the agreed upon donation amount.

Non-cash match can include donated materials, professional time, volunteer time, donated land value, and services conducted in-house for which the grantee organization does not receive compensation. Only donated land value will be accepted as non-cash match for acquisition projects. Your grant application must include a support letter from the partner organization(s) that notes the agreed upon donation amount.

Distribution of Funds:

Terms can vary, but generally you would get 50% of the amount up front and then 40%. The final 10% will be provided after sufficient close out materials have been submitted.
