Grants to Wisconsin municipalities, districts, and lake associations for motorboat access projects and the construction of fishing piers. Applicants must contact the appropriate staff member prior to applying. Eligible activities include the construction or renovation of new boat ramps, the development and renovation of parking lots, accessible paths, lighting and restroom facilities; and channel dredging and feasibility studies.

The following factors are considered in establishing projects.
-Distance of proposed project from other recreational boating facilities.
-Demand for safe boating facilities.
-Number of existing facilities.
-Number of projects underway.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Counties, towns, cities, villages, tribes, sanitary districts, public inland lake protection and rehabilitation districts, and qualified lake associations are eligible to apply for this grant program.

Pre-Application Information:

One of the factors considered in project evaluation is the applicant’s commitment of matching funds. Matching contributions for these grants must be from non-federal sources.

Grant application materials may be submitted at any time. For consideration in the federal fiscal year that begins each October, applications must be received by the regional Grants specialist no later than February 1.
