Grants to Minnesota nonprofit organizations in eligible areas to positively impact local communities in the areas of education, health, financial stability, or basic needs. First-time applicants are required to submit a preliminary application. Eligible organizations must serve the community of the Austin area and Mower County.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Any nonprofit organization under the Internal Revenue Code of the United States, whether it be a local, state, or national organization, and which renders a significant service to the community of the Austin area and Mower County, Minnesota shall annually be eligible to apply for funds.

In order to be considered for funding, such organization shall provide United Way of Mower County, Inc., with appropriate certifications and other documentation showing its continued compliance with the nonprofit organization laws, tax-exempt status laws and regulations, and charitable organization laws and regulations of the appropriate governmental agencies.

Only organizations that serve local needs will be considered.

2020 New Program Timeline:
- Application opens: November 6, 2020
- Application closes: November 20, 2020 at 5:00 PM

New programs, or programs not currently funded by UWMC, must submit a preliminary application as the first step in UWMC's Community Investment process. UWMC's Board of Directors will review new program applications to determine Community Investment eligibility. If eligible, programs will then be invited to submit a Community Investment grant application as the next step in the process.

2020 Community Investment Timeline:
- Application opens: December 4, 2020
- Application closes: February 5, 2021 at 5:00 PM
- Community Investment Panels: February and March 2021

Programs currently funded by UWMC, or those that have been deemed eligible for funds through the new program application process, may submit funding requests annually.
