Grant of up to $30,000 to a Michigan nonprofit organization, government entity, or faith-based institution in eligible locations for a project to benefit the local community. Applicants must contact program staff to initiate the application process. Funding is intended for a project that will create indelible, measurable impacts in the immediate and broader community, be supported and planned by a broad range of users; and have a clear, well-laid plan for success and sustainability. Grants should benefit Saginaw County.

One grant of $25,000 will be awarded annually. If the initial $25,000 is matched with another $25,000, the Foundation will award an additional $5,000.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, as well as individuals, community groups, neighborhoods, businesses and youth groups as long as SCF or another nonprofit is used as the fiscal sponsor.

The individual must be part of a larger organization or group in order to apply for the grant. This grant is designed to encourage and motivate collaboration across a broad range of users to make an impact in the Saginaw County community.

Community groups, neighborhoods, businesses, and youth groups are eligible to apply without a 501(c)(3) if Saginaw Community Foundation, another nonprofit, a local unit of government, or a religious institution is used as the fiscal sponsor.

Timeline:
- Applications will begin being accepted on March 1, 2021
- Applications are due by April 1, 2021.
- During April 2021, submitted applications will be reviewed by the Community Improvement Initiative (CII) Committee.The CII Committee will recommend the most qualified applications to be reviewed by the SCF Board.
- May 2021 - SCF Board reviews CII Committee's recommended applications. SCF Board votes to approve the project that will receive the CII grant.
- June 2021 - Grant award recipient is announced.

Contacting Saginaw Community Foundation to receive a grant number is a required part of the grant application process. The application is only available in draft format on the website. When assigned a grant application number, potential applicants will be emailed an editable grant application in Microsoft Word format. It is highly encouraged to begin developing a program narrative for the application as soon as possible.
