Grant ranging from $500 to $3,000 to Deschutes County, Oregon nonprofit organizations for projects and programs in heritage, arts, and humanities. Competitive proposals will demonstrate matching resources. Funding is intended for projects and activities that address one of the four priorities outlined within the Deschutes Cultural Plan.

The priorities are:

  • Encourage greater awareness of local culture
  • Ensure that cultural resources are accessible to all residents
  • Utilize local cultural resources to promote economic vitality
  • Help new and established cultural organizations increase their capacity to fulfill their mission
Applications will be evaluated on how well the proposed project or activity addresses the priorities of the Deschutes Cultural Plan. Projects must address one of the four priorities listed above. Each priority will be given equal weight in the application review and scoring process.
Proposals from applicants with new projects or programming that offers increased accessibility to a broad audience base will generally be considered more competitive. 
Eligible projects include:
  • Capacity building (donor & audience development)
  • Performances and Exhibits
  • Expansion of on-going program services
  • Teaching and Mentoring Services
  • Technology support
  • Strategic Planning

Estimated Size of Grant:

Grant awards typically range from $500 to $3,000 each.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must be:
- Deschutes County-based humanities, heritage or arts organizations
- Designated 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations
- Established for at least one year

Prior grant awardees must have submitted all project reports.

Not funded:
- Individuals
- Endowment building
- Debt reduction
- Bricks and Mortar campaigns
- Private/Public Schools

Pre-Application Information:

- Application due: November 18, 2019, by 5:00 PM
- Funding decisions: Mid-December, 2019
- Funding distribution: January 2020

The most competitive applications will provide some matching resources, either in contributed goods and services or cash funding.

Applications for funding will be reviewed by the Deschutes Cultural Coalition.
