Grants of up to $5,000 to Mission Viejo, California nonprofit organizations for community projects that contribute to the quality of life for area residents. Funding is intended to provide resources for a variety of human service projects for the community.

Eligible community service projects include, but are not limited to:

1) Crisis Intervention and/or Centers
2) Youth Services and Athletics
3) Senior Citizens
4) Special and Physically and Developmentally Disabled Population
5) Children Day Care
6) Health and Safety
7) Youth-Serving Agencies

Please note that the Community Services Grant Funding program will no longer grant funds for Cultural Services programs and services.

Grants are limited to $5,000 per agency.

Funds must be utilized by the end of the calendar year, December 31.

All community not-for-profit organizations meeting the requirements and guidelines specified in the City Council’s “Community Service Program Funding” policy may apply for funds. Refer to policy for funding clarifications and restrictions.

Funds will not be allocated to:
a) political action committees, political candidates, or political campaigns;
b) any organization conducting a religious activity;
c) organizations conducting a fund-raising event or activity;
d) for the rental of Mission Viejo City facilities; and
e) for school district programs and/or projects. Grad night funding is exempt from this funding process.

Funding requested from membership based adult organizations will not be considered if the funds requested are to be used to directly benefit its members and not the community at large.

Funding requested from youth sports groups will be considered only if the request is to support the youth sports group in a regional, state, or national competition, but not for travel out of the country, and provided that the requesting group is predominately composed of Mission Viejo residents.

Insurance Standards: The minimum amount for General Liability Insurance is $1 million general aggregate. For more details on these standards, see the Insurance Standards document in Supporting Documents below.

New applicants are encouraged to attend the grant orientation meeting on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, 6:30 pm at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center (24932 Veterans Way, Mission Viejo).

Applications are due Friday, August 25, 2017, 5:00 pm. Funding is typically dispersed in late December or January.

Special Notice: Effective fiscal year 2018-19, the Community Service Funding cycle will change. Applications will be available in December 2017/January 2018 and due late February. Funds will be distributed in June 2018 with the program cycle beginning July 1, 2018 and ending June 30, 2019.
