Grants to Marin County, California nonprofit organizations and public agencies for projects that address the health needs of local residents. Eligible programs will focus on healthy eating and active living, housing and homelessness, access to care, mental health and substance use, and violence and injury prevention.

In 2019, MarinHealth conducted a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) to assess the significant health needs in Marin County. The MarinHealth CHNA guides the hospital’s community health improvement programs and community benefit activities, as well as its collaborative efforts with organizations that share a mission to improve health.

MarinHealth prioritizes grant requests for programs that:

  • Address the Foundation's prioritized health needs.
  • Improve access to health care and supportive services.
  • Serve underserved, vulnerable populations.
  • Reduce health disparities or improve the quality of life for people living in Marin County.
  • Measure outcomes through evaluation methods and have a track record of consistent outcomes.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Established nonprofit, tax-exempt organizations and public agencies that serve Marin County residents are eligible for MarinHealth grant funds.

Grants are generally not awarded to/for:
- Arts programs
- Cultural events
- Athletic programs, such as sports teams or leagues
- Fundraising activities
- Annual fund drives
- Building or capital campaigns
- Individuals
- Religious organizations (religious purposes or exclusive benefit of their members)
- Political campaigns

Pre-Application Information:

The 2020 Community Benefit Grant Program Application is available between August 16, 2019 through September 17, 2019. Final grant awards will be announced by December 2019.
