Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $3,500 to Allegany County, Maryland nonprofits to support organizations that produce arts related programming regularly within the local community. Funding may be used towards arts programs, general operations, or capital improvements that help facilitate programming. Programs and events must be open to the general public.

Applications that address the Council's Strategic Goals will be given special consideration:

- Increase awareness of and access to the arts
- Provide a supportive environment for local artists and arts organizations to thrive
- Foster economic vitality through the arts
- Establish the area as an arts destination through Creative Placemaking

Estimated Size of Grant:

The maximum amount of GOG funding that shall be awarded to any single organization in a given fiscal year is $3,500.

Term of Contract:

For activities occurring between July 1, 2017 and June 30, 2018.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Grantees must be nonprofit (or eligible for IRS tax-exempt status) and based in Allegany County. Out-of-county organizations that produce arts programming in Allegany County may also be eligible.

GOG funds may not be used for fundraising events or social functions.

Programs that proselytize for specific political actions or religious beliefs are not eligible for funding.

By-laws must provide that assets do not accrue to any director, officer or member of the organization.

Programs and events funded with GOG money must be open to the general public.

Pre-Application Information:

In order to stimulate rather than replace community support, a 1:1 cash match is required (i.e., GOG grant funding may not exceed 1/2 of the proposed program budget). Funds from the Maryland State Arts Council are not allowed as part of this match. In-kind or donated services are similarly ineligible to be included in the match although they should be identified on the application.
