Grants to Washington nonprofit organizations in eligible areas to attract visitors and promote tourism. Funding is intended to increase local economic activity. Applicants may request funds to support a one-time tourism event, to support the year-round promotion of an organization or multiple events, or for capital improvements. The purpose of this program is to increase tourism in Grant County.

Eligible Activities: This grant program is limited to promotional activities which draw tourists, as defined below per RCW 67.28.080, meaning:

  • “Tourism” means economic activity resulting from tourists, which may include sales of overnight lodging, meals, tours, gifts, souvenirs.
  • “Tourism Promotion” means activities, operations, and expenditures designed to increase tourism including but not limited to advertising, publicizing, or otherwise distributing information for the purpose of attracting and welcoming tourists; developing strategies to expand tourism; operating tourism promotion agencies; and funding the marketing of or the operation of special events and festivals designed to attract tourists.

Allowable Uses of Funds: Allowable uses for the lodging tax funds are governed by RCW 67.28.1816 which states: Lodging tax revenues under this chapter may be used, directly by any municipality or indirectly through a convention and visitors bureau or destination marketing organization for:

  • Tourism marketing;
  • The marketing and operations of special events and festivals designed to attract tourists;
  • Supporting the operations and capital expenditures of tourism-related facilities owned or operated by a municipality or a public facilities district; or
  • Supporting the operations of tourism-related facilities owned or operated by nonprofit organizations

Term of Contract:

Grant County intends to contract with selected organizations by mid-January 2021. Contracts will be for January 1 – December 31, 2021.

Non-profit organizations may apply for lodging tax grant support.

Deadline: 5:00 PM, Wednesday, November 25, 2020 - In LTAC Office, received via email or Postmarked by this date.

Upon approval from the County Commissions, the announcement of awards will be on or about late December 2020.
