Grants to Nevada nonprofits, corporations, and government agencies in eligible areas to promote and develop the local tourism industry. Funding is intended to advertise and market local tourism resources, accommodations, transportation, special events, and natural resources. Priority will be given to projects that promote overnight stays and increase media exposure for tourism opportunities. Eligible programs enhance tourism to, and within, the City of Fernley.

Grant funds may be disbursed by the Board to local, state, regional and other organizations which promote travel and tourism to the City of Fernley and to assist them in:

  • Advertising the resources of the City of Fernley;
  • Advertising available accommodations (hotels, motels, restaurants, etc.) within the City of Fernley;
  • Advertising available transportation (bus, air, etc.);
  • Advertising special events;
  • Advertising natural resources and climate; and
  • Reimbursements of budgeted expenses for special events, which have been approved by the Board.

The Board will consider applications on a case-by-case basis giving priority to projects with the highest deemed potential for attracting tourists to the City of Fernley and which will:

  1. Create media exposure locally, statewide, regionally--even nationally--and thus help to promote tourism to Fernley through increased awareness and interest.
  2. Improve tourism and attract tourists who will stay in Fernley, preferably for several nights;
  3. Be beneficial in other ways as determined by the Board.

A goal of the grant program is for the grant money awarded to serve as "seed" money, helping a project get started or grow. All grant applications are considered on a case by case basis. This will allow funds to be used to assist new projects in getting started or to expand and to bring additional tourism to Fernley.

Generally, grant funds should be used for advertising, public relations, events, research, and promotion. For additional information, see:
