Grants of up to $6,000 to Greater Charlottesville, Virginia nonprofit organizations and businesses to promote local cultural events, arts, festivals, and tourism initiatives. Grants are intended to increase visitors, both overnight and daytrippers, to Charlottesville and Albemarle County.

As the CACVB’s mission is to attract overnight visitation, the focus by reviewers who examine applications will be whether the activity or event proposed can either attract out-of-area visitors or extend their stay. Applicants are encouraged to consider an event or festival during shoulder-season months, so as to potentially increase the number of hotel stays by visitors to this area. Off-peak, or shoulder season, is typically mid-November through mid-March and July through mid-August, when occupancy at area hotels is lower.

CACVB will award up to but not to exceed fifteen percent (15%) of the total $40,000 designated funds, being $6,000 per applicant.

Term of Contract:

Program gives organizations the opportunity to apply for marketing funding for events that occur between July 1, 2019 and June 30, 2020.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

This funding process will give first time and veteran applicants, whether not-for-profit or business entities, the opportunity to apply for marketing funding for events.

Nonprofit organizations can be a 501(c)(3) or a 501(c)(6).

Festivals should occur in either Charlottesville or Albemarle County.

Pre-Application Information:

Deadline for submitting completed applications is Friday, May 31, 2019 at 5:00 p.m.

All applications and supporting materials must be sent in PDF format to Kathy O'Leary as receipt will be determined by email delivery. In addition to email submission, a hard copy may be turned in at the CACVB’s downtown office no later than close of business on May 31, 2019.

The Festival must agree to provide a CACVB approved hotel booking landing page on its website and accept direct billing of $250 for page creation.
