Grants to California educators and teams of educators in eligible regions to support innovative curricula. Applicants must register at least one day prior to the application deadline. Eligible applicants are educators in K-12 public, private, and charter schools. The purpose of this program is to spread excellent teaching ideas throughout the county of Ventura.

IMPACT II enables excellent teaching ideas to reach all teachers in the county, and raises community awareness of exemplary classroom practices. IMPACT II boosts teacher morale by recognizing innovative teaching as well as enhancing teacher professionalism through local/national training and teacher presentations.

Lesson plans may be in subject areas including dance, foreign language, health, history/social sciences, language arts/reading (SAGE category), mathematics (Amgen category), music, physical education, science (Amgen category), theater, and visual arts.

The curriculum unit must:

  • Be innovative. Units that integrate conventional and technological instruction are encouraged.
  • Fit into the regular curriculum.
  • Have significant instructional value.
  • Have a positive effect on student attitude and behavior.
  • Have been classroom tested and taught by you in recent years.
  • Be easily adaptable and usable by other teachers.
  • Be more than a single lesson.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Grant Categories (All Grants are awarded as $500 Individual or $750 Team Grants):
- Grant Money available from the Amgen Foundation for Science and Mathematics education related applications.
- $500 in Grant Money available for the Superintendent’s award.
- $500 in Grant Money available for the Ed Lyon Award for the highest overall score.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Credentialed educators from all school districts, charter schools, and private schools countywide may submit an application if they teach K-12 (any subject or specialization) or provide teacher support at school sites and have a valid teaching credential.

Educators may submit as many grant applications as they wish. A person can receive one grant as an individual and one in partnership with another teacher or teachers. While applicants may submit as many applications as they wish, applicants are eligible to receive only 1 grant in the Individual Category and 1 grant in the Team Category.

Pre-Application Information:

Application items are due no later than 4:00 PM, April 2.

Application Process and Deadline Date:
1. Complete the online registration by Thursday, March 19th, no later than 4:00 p.m.
2. After completing the online registration, email your narrative and supporting documents no later than 4:00 PM, Friday, March 20th.

2020 IMPACT II Awards Banquet will be Wednesday, May 6th, 2020.
