Grant Description
Grants of up to $500 to Ottawa, Canada student groups (i.e., Student Councils, clubs, and sports teams) seeking financial support to host events and organize activities or programs aimed at raising awareness of elder abuse and promoting respect of seniors, through education, service, or advocacy.

A funded student group may consist of young women and young men; however, preference will be given to women-led groups in line with Zonta’s mission to promote leadership roles for women.

High School Student Councils, other high school accredited clubs, or sports teams are eligible.

Pre-Application Information
Timetable:

By February 10, 2015: Email completed applications in Word or PDF format to the Program Coordinator, Mona Tobgi.

By February 10, 2015 the two emails from school officials described under “application requirements” are to be sent to Mona Tobgi.

By March 16, 2015: The Zonta Club of Ottawa’s selection committee will select the application(s) that best meet the project’s goals and notify applicants.

Dates for the disbursement of funds will be based on the budget information provided.

In May 2015 (exact date to be determined) the group’s leaders(s) will receive certificate or certificates of appreciation.

Estimated Size of Grant
There is a maximum budget of $500 to cover out of pocket expenses of all selected activities. In the case of activities requiring presentations, the Zonta Club of Ottawa will try to provide a speaker trained to address this important topic.

Term of Contract
Projects are to be completed and funded within the 2014-2015 academic year.
