Grants ranging from $500 to $1,500 to Manitoba, Canada non-profits for programs directly benefiting children ages 0-5 and their families in the Point Douglas community.The aim of the program is to provide resources and support in cooperation with existing and potential service providers in their efforts to strengthen children and families in the community.
Eligible programs must fall into one of the following four categories:
1) Parenting – activities to support/enhance parents' ability to nurture the healthy development of their children.
2) Healthy Lifestyle – activities to promote good nutrition and healthy lifestyles through education, community supports, recreation and skills training.
3) Literacy – activities to support the learning success of children by improving family literacy and numeracy.
4) Capacity-Building – activities to support community capacity through leadership opportunities, volunteering and community service, community economic development, and civic engagement.
Parent-Child Coalitions support existing programs and initiate new activities that reflect the diversity and unique needs of each community.
Requests for funding for snack and meal programs will not be considered.
