Request a Grant Writer

Grants to South Carolina nonprofit organizations in eligible counties for local programs that promote health and wellness in eligible counties. Applicants must submit a letter of intent prior submitting a full application. Preference will be given to programs that increase accessibility to healthcare. Eligible projects must benefit the service area of the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, which includes the upstate counties of Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Union.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Hospital grant requests have no minimum amount; however, community requests should not exceed $20,000.

Term of Contract:

The grant project must be completed within the 12-month period of July 3, 2020 – July 2, 2021.

Multi-year requests are not funded.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Spartanburg Regional Foundation considers only those organizations that are recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)3 charitable non-profit and/or tax exempt entities.

Funded organizations must not discriminate on the basis of age, race, national origin, ethnicity, gender, religious belief or physical ability.

Spartanburg Regional Foundation offers grant assistance to projects and programs that are clearly health-related and falls within the service areas(s) of Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.

Spartanburg Regional Foundation does not generally provide funding for:
- Endowments
- Annual operating support including operating expenses of existing programs
- Organizations outside of the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System service area(s)
- Grants to individuals
- Loans
- Grant Proposals without a Letter of Intent (LOI) and invitation to apply
- Multi-year requests
- Recurring requests for the same purpose as a grantee’s current grant
- Grantee's current grant with an approved extension
- Fundraising events, celebrations, dinners
- Retroactive expenses/activities
- Vehicles including SUVs
- K-12 public or private school, charter school, community/junior college, state/private college or university.

Separate 501(c)3 organizations established to support a school should contact the Foundation prior to submission to determine project eligibility.

Pre-Application Information:

LOI’s will be accepted from January 27 – February 24, 2020 via the online grant submission system.

If you are invited to submit a full proposal, you will receive an e-mail with instructions after your LOI has been reviewed and approved. Invited full applications may be submitted from March 6 to April 3, 2020.

LOI and full applications must be submitted via the online grant submission system by 5:00 p.m. on the dates provided.

Site visits may be conducted during the review process: April 9 - Mary 8, 2020.

The review process takes approximately five months. Applicants will be notified of funding decisions on May 21 or 22, 2020.

An announcements/Grand Award Ceremony will take place on June 4, 2020 at the Piedmont Club, 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM.
