Grant Description
Fellowships of up to $2,500 to Connecticut administrators at nonprofit arts organizations for career advancement opportunities. Funding is intended to defray the cost of activities related to professional development, including conferences, workshops, coaching, travel, and training.

The Elizabeth L. Mahaffey Arts Administration Fellowship provides funding to advance careers in arts administration. Arts administration is the field that concerns the business operations of an arts organization, including but not limited to staff management, public relations, marketing, budget/fiscal management, board development, fund-raising, program development, and evaluation.

Funds may be used toward expenses directly related to professional development activities, including but not limited to:

  • Tuition or registration fees for workshops, conferences, and training
  • Fees to work directly with a consultant or career coach
  • Travel and hotel costs associated with attending a workshop, conference, or training.

Special consideration will be given to professional development requests that support and/or align with COA’s READI goals. For additional information, see: https://portal.ct.gov/DECD/Content/Arts-and-Culture/About_Arts_Office/READI
