Grant Description
Grants of up to $5,000 to Pennsylvania nonprofit organizations, municipalities, and schools to benefit families in eligible locations. Funding is intended for new projects or to enhance existing programs. Awards may also be considered for start-up funds. Requests must reflect sustainability and other ongoing support. Eligible proposals benefit women and families in Elk County.

Women Who Care strives to educate, encourage, and expand the number of women committed to philanthropy in order to strengthen the community by providing funds and assistance to issues that are important to families. The Women Who Care Fund welcomes grant applications as part of its mission to provide funding for projects that have the most impact on the families in local communities.

Additional Eligibility Criteria
Awards are limited to nonprofit organizations with current exempt status as defined by the Internal Revenue Service Section 501(c) (3) Internal Revenue Code, schools, or municipalities.

Ineligible
Women Who Care does not:
• make awards to individuals.
• make awards for capital campaigns or to fund endowments.
• fund the same project more than once – unless there are unusual circumstances.
• fund organizations that promote a particular religious or political ideology.
• fund advertising, dinner galas, or other fundraising events.
• fund contributions to the general fund of an organization.
• fund overhead administrative cost exceeding 10% of request.

Pre-Application Information
The application deadline for 2023 is August 15, with review 6-8 weeks after the due date.

Recommended grant applications will be presented to the full membership of WWC in video format at its annual meeting in the fall. A 3-minute video from each grant application will be required at that time. The video does not need to be submitted with the initial grant application. You will be notified by the Foundation at a later date of the deadline to submit your video.

Women Who Care may award less than the amount requested, and may also consider providing matching or challenge grants.

Estimated Size of Grant
The maximum grant is $5,000.
