Grants to Texas nonprofit organizations and government agencies to support ongoing and new artistic and cultural activities in eligible counties. Funding may be requested for start-up costs, equipment and facilities, general operating support, emergency needs, program support, and demonstration programs. Eligible activities must take place in Lubbock and Hale Counties.

Funding will be awarded for arts activities and initiatives that will be of the greatest benefit to the community. Approximately two-thirds of the grants will be awarded for the support of smaller arts organizations and one-third to larger organizations and for special initiatives. The grant will provide opportunities for the growth of the arts community and will also assure the availability of diverse cultural experiences for the citizens of Lubbock and Hale counties.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Support from the Sybil B. Harrington Endowment for the Arts is restricted to organizations in Lubbock and Hale Counties that are 501(c)(3) or the government equivalent.

The Foundation does not make grants to individuals, for political purposes, to retire indebtedness, or for payment of interest or taxes.

Pre-Application Information:

The Community Foundation of West Texas accepts proposals on January 15th of each year. (If the 15th happens to fall on a weekend or a holiday, proposals are accepted on the first working day following the due date.)

All grant applications must be submitted through the online portal. Applications will not be accepted via mail or email.

Additional information or a site visit may be requested. You will be notified of the Board's decision as soon as possible after the Board meeting at which your application is considered.
