Prizes to Michigan entrepreneurs of start-up companies for innovative business ideas and models. The competition is intended to promote and broaden the state economy. Entrepreneurs and small business backers will have the opportunity to join a start-up business competition and pitch ideas to a panel of seasoned judges, while also networking with angel and venture capital investors from across the state.

The GreenLight Michigan Business Model Competition brings together entrepreneurs and small business supporters from all across Michigan. In addition to networking with innovators and venture capital investors, participants pitch their new business ideas to a panel of esteemed judges for a chance at winning up to $100K in cash prizes.

Winning funds are to be utilized to start business ventures anywhere in Michigan.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Finalists will have the chance to win a total of $100K in cash prizes.
The best business model will win $40,000.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The competition is open to all, including students and business professionals.

If you have a registered business entity, you must be a State of Michigan based business that has been in existence for less than two years (earliest incorporation date of 3/28/16).

Pre-Application Information:

-Wednesday, February 28, 2018: Participant applications are due by 11:59 PM. Apply to compete.
-Wednesday, March 14, 2018: Finalists will be announced.
-Wednesday, March 28, 2018: The big day! Finalists will present their pitches to a panel of judges and a full audience at the GreenLight Business Model Competition at 4.00pm at the Wharton Center for the Performing Arts.
