Permanent Endowment Fund for Martha’s Vineyard
Grants ranging from, $1,000 to $6,000 to Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts nonprofit organizations and government agencies to improve the quality of life for residents of the Island. Funding is intended to support programs in the areas of health, community, environment, and the arts. Education is considered as a component of all these focus areas. For instance, grants for Art Education are included in Arts, and Environmental Education Programs are included in Environment. Grants that support schools are included in Community.
Applications will be considered using the following set of criteria as a guide:
- Project or program is clearly defined.
- Who will be served?
- Program is at a stage of development that justifies the request.
- Outcomes are clear, realistic and reasonable.
- There is a compelling opportunity to make a difference in the quality of life for residents of MV.
- Does this proposal differ from existing programs or services on the island?
- The proposed project is consistent with the organization’s mission and strategic plan.
- Strong leadership at Board and staff level.
- Project budget is clear, detailed and realistic.

In general, grants range in size from $1,000 to $6,000. Some grants are made for larger amounts but these are rare and, in most cases, reflect a specific fund’s aims or provisions.
In the case of programs, grants will be considered for periods of time lasting up to one year. In the case of equipment or projects, it is expected the funds will be used within a year.
