Grants of up to $5,000 to Porter County, Indiana nonprofit organizations for projects and programs to support and enhance the arts in local communities. Funding is intended for projects that create more visibility for the arts, and in turn, enrich the quality of life for local residents.
Priority will be given to requests that support the goals of Sparking the Arts which are to:
- Promote public performances or displays of artworks in Porter County;
- Enhance the capacity of arts organizations and the arts community;
- Promote artistic quality and growth;
- Foster and support local talent of all ages through art organizations; and
- Inspire community pride.
In considering grant applications, the Sparking the Arts Grant Committee considers these factors:
1. Evidence of support for the request from sources other than the Foundation;
2. Evidence that the organization’s Board provides meaningful financial support in addition to their governance responsibilities;
3. The overall financial strength of the organization;
4. Whether or not the same request has been funded previously;
5. The uniqueness of the request;
6. Applications that include a portion of the organization’s operating costs are not favored; and
7. The impact of the request or the overall enhancement of the organization’s capacity to better serve Porter County.
