Grants starting at $1,000 to New York nonprofit organizations for innovative programs to improve the quality of life for adult residents with intellectual or developmental disabilities (I/DD) in Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne, and Yates Counties. Funding is intended to support innovative projects and programs that will help adults with I/DD (18 years old and older who have completed school) lead fulfilling, productive, and meaningful lives.

The innovations the Giving Circle seeks to support must be measurable, sustainable, widely applicable, and — most importantly — promote maximum independence for individuals with I/DD.

Definition of Innovation: The Giving Circle is looking for new approaches to solving existing problems that are accomplished through more effective products, processes, services, technologies, or service models.

The DDGC seeks to support programs that provide innovations in technology, training, collaborative programming, and community linkages that aid and support any of the areas listed below. Areas of particular interest for 2018 include employment success, transportation solutions, staffing solutions, residential supports, social and recreational options, communications strategies, and addressing poverty in the I/DD community.

Areas of Funding:

- Employment Readiness and Success: Alternative employment options; learning new skills; staying on task; and work behaviors
- Transportation: Available; dependable; and easy to navigate
- Residential Living: Budgeting; shopping; and cooking
- Staffing Solutions: Finding and hiring staff for self-directed plans
- Increasing Social Opportunities: Recreation; disability awareness tools; and self-advocacy
- Daily Living Activities and Personal Care: Speech; eating; and mobility
- Optimized Health and Wellness: Monitoring with less staff; medication administration; health data reporting; and wellness initiatives (healthy food, exercise, etc.)
