Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $2,500 to Santa Barbara County, California nonprofit organizations to sponsor one-time public educational or enrichment events. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis through November 2. Sponsorships are intended to support events that enrich the lives of individuals and groups, and develop the capacity of communities within the County.

Sponsorships will support speaker stipends, venue expenses, event marketing and advertising costs, and event equipment rental expenses.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Up to $2,500.

Term of Contract:

Up to one year, and a final report of impact achieved will be required.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Requirements for sponsorship application consideration:

-Organizations must be a 501(c)(3) or use a fiscal sponsor with a 501(c)(3) tax status

-Organizations may submit ONE application per calendar year (either as a single agency or as part of a collaborative)

-Organizations whose majority of programs and services take place in Santa Barbara County

-Event must take place in a Santa Barbara County community

-Priority will be given to requests that incorporate a broad level of community participation

-Priority will be given to collaborative events

-It is recommended that the sponsorship request be submitted at least 60 days in advance of the event

Not Funded:
-Political organizations, candidates, advocacy or lobbying efforts
-National or international organizations, unless their programs have significant local impact
-Organizations or events with limited availability to the general public
-Events with a fund-raising component, including promotion or sales of commercial products
-Operating costs for the sponsoring organization

Pre-Application Information:

Applications may be submitted at any time in the calendar year through November 2, 2015. Requests should be submitted at least 60 days in advance of the event.

Applications must be approved by the CEO or executive director of the requesting organization or the fiscal sponsor. Applications must be submitted electronically via email to ExpressGrants@sbfoundation.org. Agencies will receive an email confirming delivery.

Grant decisions will be made up to 60 days after submission.
