Grants of $20,000 to Pennsylvania nonprofit organizations in eligible locations for activities that benefit local girls and women. Eligible programs may align with one of the following areas of focus: economic development, health and safety, and education. Projects must benefit girls and women residing in the counties of Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lebanon, and Perry Counties, and/or the Dillsburg Area of Northern York County.

The 2020 Fund for Women & Girls VISIONARY grant opportunity will award innovative, change-making grants to nonprofit organizations who seek to transform women’s education, economic opportunity, and access to health and wellness for decades to come, by addressing one or more of the following priorities:

  • Providing opportunities to address basic needs or develop economic self-sufficiency.
  • Providing opportunities to strengthen and address health and safety needs.
  • Providing opportunities for education.

Proposals must:

  • Be innovative and change-making. Proposed projects may seek to strengthen and/or sustain existing programs, expand existing programs, or be new, but must be innovative and change-making.
  • Demonstrate focused service to women and girls. Proposals may focus on service to women, service to girls, service to women and girls, and/service to people who identify as such.
  • Have lasting value and provide a plan for sustainability beyond the grant year.

Proposed projects may include, but are not limited in any way to:

  • Addressing at-risk, vulnerable populations (e.g. serious mental illness, returning military, those who are incarcerated or economically disadvantaged),
  • Preventing violence.
  • Understanding the connection between behavior and health (e.g. wellness, diabetes, obesity).
  • Understanding and eliminating stigma and prejudice (e.g. race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability and socioeconomic status).
  • Pilot projects that, if successful, would be strong candidates for support from other foundations or funding agencies beyond the grant year.
  • Projects that may be replicated and/or expanded to similar settings.

$20,000 grants will be awarded through this opportunity.

Term of Contract:

Proposed projects may take place at any time during the grant year beginning January 1, 2021 and ending December 31, 2021. *Applicants who wish to seek up to $20,000 to be used over a two year period, will be considered on a case-by-case basis should this ensure sustainability of the presented project or program, and must receive approval from TFEC prior to application.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

-Eligible projects must serve individuals, groups, and/or locations within Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lebanon, and Perry Counties, and/or the Dillsburg Area of Northern York County.
-Applicants must either be a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization or have a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization act as a fiscal sponsor for the proposed project.

What The Foundation Does Not Fund
-Advancement of capital or endowment campaign
-Anti-reproductive rights activities
-Co-educational programs that do not clearly communicate the specific and unique aspects for women and girls
-Event sponsorship
-Political campaigns or promotion of candidates for public office
-Promotion of religious beliefs
-Scholarships that fund individual students

In addition, in alignment with TFEC guidelines, this grant opportunity does not fund:
-Advertising
-Capital campaigns
-Direct lobbying to influence legislation or funding appropriations
-Individuals
-National and statewide umbrella organizations that cannot demonstrate a local presence
-New staff positions without a substantial plan for sustainability
-Religious organizations for religious purposes
-Retroactive projects

Pre-Application Information:

-April 15, 2020 Application available.
-August 1, 2020: all application materials must be submitted through the online application system by 4:00pm
-Applicants will be notified of their status on or before December 1, 2020.

This grant opportunity will not fund 100% of any project; applicants may not submit applications seeking 100% project support.
