Grants to Denver County, Colorado non-profit arts, cultural, and scientific organizations that are seeking financial support to assist with the following types of capacity building activities: training and conferences, equipment purchases, and consultations. The following specific activities within each of these areas will be supported:

1. Training and Conferences
Registration fees to attend classes, workshops, trainings, or conferences on non-profit management or professional development skills. Funds are only available for fees incurred that are directly attributable to the educational opportunity, and are not available for travel, lodging, or per-diem expenses.

2. Consultation
Costs for hiring a consultant or vendor for one-on-one or group projects on non-profit management or specific organizational issues. This may include board development, facilitation of retreats or strategic planning, or consultation on issues such as database, website, fundraising, or accounting. Consultation or facilitation related to capital projects is not eligible.

3. Purchases
Purchase of hardware, software, or equipment to improve organizational capacity.

4. Other
Other capacity-building requests may be considered by the Committee, based on need and merit.

Funds must be used within one year of receipt.


Additional Eligibility Criteria:

- Organizations must be SCFD eligible, and must have submitted an accepted application for GOS in Denver County in the most recent application cycle. Organizations must also conduct a majority of their annual activities in the City and County of Denver to be eligible for Capacity Building grants.

- Applications must be for work that will be initiated after the award is approved. Retroactive awards will not be considered.

- Requested amount should reflect an investment from general operating or additional fundraising. Requests will generally not be funded for 100% of the budget.

- Each organization is limited to one Capacity Building project request in each bi-annual grant cycle.

- Previous Capacity Building award should be expended and a Final Report submitted prior to submitting a new application for Capacity Building support.
