Grants of up to $30,000 to Manitoba nonprofits and artists' collectives to present contemporary art to the public. All visual arts disciplines are eligible, including design, craft, architecture, and media arts. Grants will support publications, artists' fees, and contracted professional consultations.

The Council’s priority is on the payment of artists’ fees and basic costs essential to the presentation of work by professional artists.

The primary criterion in the assessment of applications is artistic merit. Consideration is also given to the following criteria:
- Benefit to the artists involved
- Impact on and benefit to the artistic community
- Impact on and benefit to the public
- Collaboration
- Level of artistic risk involved
- Degree to which the art form is advanced
- Degree to which the programming fits the mandate of the organization.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Eligible applicants are not-for-profit corporations registered in Manitoba and collectives/small groups who:
- Have as an ongoing program or primary purpose to present or exhibit contemporary art to the general public
- Pay exhibition fees to artists in accordance with the CARFAC Recommended Minimum Exhibition Fee Schedule
- Demonstrate the capacity to originate projects and present contemporary art in a professional manner
- Ensure that the program seeks to broaden the interest and understanding of contemporary art
- Accompany activities with interpretive materials, lectures, panel discussions, and workshops (where possible)
- Ensure that exhibition spaces fulfill minimum requirements for security and environmental control (where possible)
- Maintain sound management and financial controls.

Individuals / Groups / Collectives / Ensembles must be:
- Professional artists
- Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada
- Residents of Manitoba

Organizations must be:
- Professional arts organizations
- Incorporated in Manitoba
- Based in Manitoba
- Operating as a not-for-profit

Please note: Organizations receiving operating support
from the Manitoba Arts Council are not eligible for this
program.

Pre-Application Information:

Groups with major costs are encouraged to show a significant confirmed contribution from other sources.

The application and support material must be submitted together and received or postmarked on or before the deadline.
Note: Hard copies of applications and funding agreements must be dropped off or sent by mail. The Manitoba Arts Council does not accept faxed or emailed applications and funding agreements. Applications must be signed.
