Request a Grant Writer

Award of $5,000 to an Ontario resident to recognize contributions to arts and culture in eligible regions. The purpose of the program is commend individuals who have contributed to cultural enrichment in the region. Applicants from equity-seeking and Indigenous communities are encouraged to self-identify.

The application must identify:

  • The diversity of the nominee’s accomplishments.
  • The impact of the nominee’s contribution to the arts in Ottawa.
  • The extent of their role in the development of the Ottawa arts community.

Estimated Size of Grant:

The award recipient receives a bronze cast of Victor Tolgesy’s 1963 sculpture titled “Seed and Flower” provided by the City of Ottawa as well as a cash prize of $5,000.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Nominees for this award must:
- Be nominated by an individual or group who is familiar with your contribution to the arts community and who may only endorse one applicant in each category per year.
- Have lived in the National Capital Region (defined as 75 km from Parliament Hill) for the previous five years.
- Not have previously received this award.

The Ottawa Arts Council is engaged in applying an equity lens to our programs, as such, they strongly encourage applicants from Indigenous and equity-seeking communities to self-identify.

An individual may be nominated by filling out the form and gathering the required supporting documents, including a letter of nomination. The completed package should be submitted by email before the deadline.
