Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $20,000 to Connecticut artists, arts organizations, organizations with arts programs, IHEs, artists groups, and municipal arts departments for projects that bring art into the community. March 15 is the deadline for the required Intent to Apply. Eligible proposals create relationships with non-arts stakeholders to create an appreciation of the value of art in respect to community needs, interests, and opportunities.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Tier One – for funding requests from $5,000 up to a maximum of $10,000.
Tier Two – for funding requests that start above $10,000 up to a maximum of $20,000.

Term of Contract:

Your ACI project proposal must occur during the specified funding period, namely, July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017. Projects may be completed earlier.

Note: State funds may not be used to cover any expenses incurred before or after the period of the grant, including those costs associated with project planning.

- Artist Groups without 501(c)3 status (with fiscal sponsor)
- Arts Organizations
- Arts Programs of a 501(c)3 non-arts organization
- College or University
- Municipal Art Departments

Important Note for Eligible Tier One Applicants:
• Individual Artists and Artist Groups without formal Internal Revenue Service charitable organization designation 501(c)3, must apply through a fiscal sponsor.
• An artist employed by an organization may submit an application as an individual artist OR via the organization within which they are employed, but not both.

Tier Two entities include:

- Arts Organizations
- Municipal Art Department (Category C only)

Pre-Application Information:

Applicants are required to submit an Intent to Apply - Deadline: Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 12:00 PM. Applicants must submit an Intent to Apply using COA’s on-line e-granting portal accessible at https://coa.fluidreview.com/. Applicants must create an account, or if an account already exists then sign in using your email and password.

Applicants accepted to proceed with an application will be notified no later than Tuesday, March 22, 2016.

Review the Grants-At-A-Glance chart (attached) for a listing of COA grant options as applicants may ONLY select one program (of those identified on this chart) in a single grant period.

Grants require a match of private funds equal to at least fifty percent (50%) of the COA funds requested.
