Grants of up to $1,000 to Minnesota individual emerging and established artists in Ely, Winton, and surrounding areas for one-time artistic opportunities that will positively impact their careers, as well as the local community.

Funding is intended to recognize and encourage local artists to take advantage of an impending, concrete opportunity or specific development activity. The project must represent a unique, short-term opportunity that will have a significant impact on the artist's career and the Ely community.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Grants will be awarded in an amount up to $1,000.

Term of Contract:

You must complete your grant opportunity within 11 months of grant award or return the remaining dollars. The Gardner Trust Board may approve extensions for extenuating circumstances.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

- Your primary residence must be in zip codes 55731 or 55796, the Cities of Ely and Winton and surrounding area, for at
least 6 months prior to the grant deadline.
- Your work must demonstrate a sustained level of accomplishment, commitment, and excellence.
- You can not have an outstanding final report due to the Gardner Trust.
- You can not be currently enrolled full-time as a student in a degree program and must be over 18 years old.
- You may be awarded only one Individual Artist Grant in a given fiscal year.
- Trust Board members may not apply for an Individual Artist Grant during the term(s) they serve on the Donald G. Gardner Humanities Trust board.
- Trust staff may apply for Individual Artist Grants. All applications will be judged using the same criteria

The Executive Director, Keiko Williams, is available to help review your application or offer suggestions before you submit your final copies. If this is your first time submitting an application you are strongly encouraged to contact Keiko for a grant review. Please contact her at least 10 days before the application deadline (see Contact Information below).

Grants are due by noon on March 23, 2018.

Selection will be made by the board of the Donald G. Gardner Humanities Trust at its next monthly meeting; within one month of the grant deadline.
