Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $2,500 to British Columbia First Nation Elders groups to implement projects that encourage capacity development. Funding may be used for activities to enhance skills, abilities, and knowledge in the areas of leadership, team building, language and culture, and mentorship.

Types of projects include storytelling, culture camps, and participation in events and gatherings.

This grant can also be used for Elders Groups wanting to attend the 42nd Annual Elders Gathering in Duncan Hosted by the Cowichan Tribes this summer.

Estimated Size of Grant:

The maximum amount available is $2,500 per Elders group or First Nation/community/organization.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The Elders Grant Initiative is available to all BC First Nation Elders groups at the community level.

Priority will be given to Elders Groups.

Examples of Ineligible Expenses or Projects:
• Tuition, fees and school-related costs
• Existing administration costs and overhead costs
• Honorariums or existing staff wages or salaries
