Grants of up to $1,000 to Ontario young leaders for projects to support youth development and to address youth issues in Perth and Huron counties. Funding is intended for projects including, but not limited to, events, guest speakers, workshops, multi-media presentations, skills development, musical acts, collective brainstorming, and panel discussions of tough topics.

The funding source is looking for the following kinds of youth projects:

  • New projects it has not seen before.
  • Projects that aim to improve the lives of youth and/or the community.
  • Projects with youth working together.
  • Projects that tell others about youth issues and concerns.

Eligible Funds:

  • Direct programming (resources, guest speakers, thank you gifts, non-cash prizes)
  • Project materials (printing, photocopying, food, promotional)
  • Equipment (short term rental) and facility rentals

Term of Contract:

- Youth In Action Grants are a one-time grant opportunity.
- Please plan your project to occur between January – May 2020. Funds should be spent by May 31, 2020.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

To apply, what do I need?
- To be a Lead Youth Applicant (ages 14-24).
- To have an Adult Trustee (age 25+) that supports the project, will help you handle the money and complete a final report.

To have a project that:
- A youth team plan and implement.
- Helps other youth and gets them involved.
- Is legal and safe.
- Is open, unbiased, and accessible to ALL youth.

- To know what you want to see happen because of the project

What can’t the money be used for?
- Cash Prizes
- Staff salaries, benefits, and administrative costs
- Office space rental
- Fundraising projects
- Funding for individual or team travel
- Projects that are not run primarily by youth

Pre-Application Information:

Applications can be submitted: Anytime from September 9th to October 4th, 2019 at 5:00 pm.

What happens after I apply?
- October - Staff will review your application and call you if they have any questions.
- November - The Community Committee will review your application and will let you know if you will be getting funding.
- Please note that funding decisions will not be made until November and funding will be released in November/December 2019.

Once the funding source gets your signed contract letter, it will send you a check for 90% of the grant. After receiving the final report, they will send you the check for the last 10% of the grant.

Spend the funding by May 31, 2020.

Return any unused funds by June 12, 2020.
