Grant Description

Grants of up to $5,000 to New York museums to work on a small-scale planning or implementation projects. Applicants are advised to apply as soon as possible as funds are distributed on a rolling basis through the June 30 deadline. Projects may involve, but are not limited to: board, audience, membership, or program development; strategic or long-range planning; staff training, marketing, exhibitions, collections, or museum education.

Traditional consultancies as well as mentoring relationships are welcome.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

You must hold a charter from the NYS Board of Regents (unless you are a branch of local government).

Funds from Mini-Grants may not be used to pay for meals, hospitality expenses nor out-of-state travel. Grant funds may also not be used to support the salary of current staff or for any capital projects.

Pre-Application Information:

While a match is not required, applicants are encouraged to show other contributions to their project through staff time or other funds.

The grants cannot be used as a match for a NYSCA application, nor duplicate any NYSCA request.

Grants will be evaluated by a peer review panel, and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis until the funds have been fully allocated. It is always advisable to apply early in the year.
