Grant Description
In-kind volunteer support to Alabama nonprofit organizations in eligible areas for projects that meet the needs of local residents. The grants are intended for projects with a clearly defined volunteer focus. Projects should address a major community need and fall within the focus area of “Strengthening Families.” Eligible projects benefit the residents of Montgomery.

The Foundation is committed to strengthening families by identifying and participating in programs that promote parenting skills, promoting the positive development and education of all children and youth, supporting the elderly and the medically under-served, and strengthening the community.

The project should ideally utilize 8-25 volunteers for 15-20 hours each in a meaningful way. A minimum of 8-10 volunteers must be utilized in the project.

Projects may impact Montgomery in the following areas:

  • Children and Youth
  • Early Intervention
  • Education
  • Parenting
  • Low-Income Families
  • Domestic Violence
  • Life Skills Development
  • Cultural Enrichment
  • Elderly
  • Health and Well Being
  • Youth at Risk.

Additional Eligibility Criteria
All project proposals must be received from a designated non-profit agency that is a 501(c) (3) organization.

Administrative costs will not be supported.

Pre-Application Information
The completed proposal is due by 5 pm, Friday, August 18, 2023.

After the proposal is received, you will be contacted by a Community Research Committee member to discuss your proposal and a site visit may be scheduled. This will occur in early September 2023. The Committee members will thoroughly review each submitted proposal and make a recommendation to the Junior League Board of Directors fall of 2023.

Proposed projects will be voted on by the full JLM membership by February 2024.

Projects are not officially accepted until a minimum number of Junior League members volunteer to staff the project. Thus, a membership-approved project can be denied funding if members do not choose to volunteer for the project.

A contract between the Junior League and the sponsoring organization of each accepted project will be signed in May 2024. Checks will be presented to the selected organizations at that time.

Applicants not receiving funding will be notified via email by March 2024.
